Stream ShowBox To Chromecast/TV With This Simple Guide

Are you ready to get your favourite movies on your TV/Chromecast? If you say YES, then you are at the correct place on the web. Using ShowBox on mobiles and tablets is a pretty much happy thing, but this time, you may wonder that you can get to stream Showbox to Chromecast/TV. Isn’t it worthy? Of course, watching your dearest movies for free is a precious thing.

To get that valuable thing, you just need to spend 5-10 minutes to read this article and enjoy after you cast this app on your big device. To do that; first, you need to download ShowBox app on your Android/iOS device. Download Showbox for Android here and install Showbox on iPhone/iPad. See this image once to understand the procedure briefly.

Stream Showbox To Chromecast/Television With Below Simple Steps

Now, we’ll move to the topic in which I’m going to discuss step by step guide for utilising Chromecast to cast Showbox movies to TV.

These are the 4 things you must have for streaming Show Box movies. I’ll explain the procedure in 3 steps.

  1. Download Showbox and install it.
  2. Download GrowBox or MX Player (Download links are provided below) (Any one app of these two is essential to stream Showbox Movies, READ THE NOTE In STEP-2)
  3. Download Casting App (Recommended – LocalCast Free Version)
  4. Buy Google’s Chromecast Device Here (Better you buy it after reading the entire article. If you already have it, NO PROBLEM!)

Step – 1: In the first step, you must have got Showbox application >> here is the link.

Step – 2:

Please Read This: If you’ve already installed MX Player in your mobile, then I suggest you to do this process with MX Player first, instead of GrowBox. If MX Player doesn’t work to stream, then again do this same method with GrowBox. So, do not download the GrowBox now.

What if you don’t have MX Player already? In this case, I’ll recommend you to go with this MX Player itself. Most of the times, it works. If not, you can try again with Grow Box. Here is the link to get MX Player.

After getting the MX app, skip this GrowBox part and head over to the step-3 which shows you how to get started. Continue from there to the end.

What is GrowBox?

GrowBox is an android app specially designed for ShowBox to enable casting apps for ShowBox. It acts like MX player (External Player on ShowBox) whenever you installed it on your smartphone.

ShowBox usually supports MX Player as “Other Player”. With my trick, we together make GrowBox pretends as MX Player for ShowBox. Interesting, isn’t it?

How To Install GrowBox?

Note: You must uninstall MX Player to install GrowBox

There is only one way to install GrowBox; that is APK installation method. To download apk file, please click here.

After getting the file, go to Security Settings and enable (check) the “Unknown Sources” connected WiFioption.

Now, go to the place where you have downloaded the file and install that apk by clicking on it.

installing growbox imageAfter Getting Any of the above two applications (most probably MX Player), follow this.

Step – 3: Now you are all set to this 3rd step.

Coming to the step 3, please install a casting app. Here I’m demonstrating with LocalCast Free app. Install the LocalCast.

  • Before using the app, these two points are mandatory.
  • You must have bought Chromecast.
  • Insert Chromecast to your TV’s HDMI Port and plug-in the power cable (USB) to that, which will come along with it.
  • Now open LocalCast on mobile, you’ll see Circular Yellow coloured button with WiFi like symbol on the bottom right side of the app.
  • By clicking on it, you’ll see something like this image. There it’ll list out the Wi-Fi (Wireless Network) devices like Chromecast, TVs, etc. Connect with the Chromecast WiFi. In this particular image, there is no device available.

casting app connection with chromecast

Now we will see the exact method to watch a movie on ShowBox.

  • Open a video that you wish to view on ShowBox
  • Choose Server A or B and Player
  • Now click on Watch Now.
  • ShowBox has two types of players – Internal Players & Other Player (See the below image)

stream showbox

  • If you want to stream movies to Chromecast, we need to choose Other Player.
  • After that, click on MX Player or the GrowBox, it will play the video.

Click on Share button, which is on top right corner. It will show your casting app which you have installed now. See the image for better understanding.

choosing casting app

LocalCast will show you the WiFi connected devices, and once you click on Chrome cast, it’ll automatically stream the movie to TV. Please note that streaming is possible only if you have connected Chromecast through WiFi network in LocalCast (I’ve explained the process in previous steps).

cast showbox to tv

Now, we are at the end of the session. Rest is just enjoying your favourite movies.

So, this is it, my buddy. I hope I have served the best solution to Stream ShowBox to Chromecast/TV. Please let me know if you get succeed with this procedure by leaving your comments below. It makes me worth of writing this post for you.

Showbox stopped offering the option to cast about 10 days ago when I did the upgrade on my Galaxy tablet. I have followed the instructions in this article and uninstalled and reinstalled Showbox multiple times, tried MLX and Growbox, and still no option to cast on tv. The options 360, 480 and 720 above the Watch Now button are no longer available. From the side menu I specified Other Player but when hitting Watch Now it goes directly to playing the movie on the device, no option to cast. Local Cast is working fine, casting from other apps. The movies take 2-3 minutes to open up the movie (before it went directly to streaming and playing the movie on my tv). Please help. I really enjoyed the app before the upgrade.

    You are a star !

I’ve been struggling with this for ages, downloaded all the right apps and still not working – you highlighted the one main thing missing from all other blogs – choose server and not torrents – doesn’t work with torrents for some reason

    Super star ! thank you

Hi, Kay. Did you plug-in the USB cable of Chromecast device? If you did, the WiFi of that gadget that must be shown in AllCast. If it’s not showing, I suggest you go with LocalCast program. It works well. Let me hear again. Cheers!

Hi. Thanks for this Tutorial/Guide! I’ve notice that I completely don’t need Growbox or MX player …. it’s enough to choose Local Cast…so my question is where’s the point of installing those players? Can I uninstall them?

    • admin

      Aug 25, 2016, 3:08 pm

Hi, Cris. The point of installation of the media players is explained in step 2. You don’t have to uninstall any app. Just keep the MX and use LocalCast or AllCast to do the casting. Let me be informed how it goes, cheers!

        Nov 28, 2016, 3:39 am

Thanks for your post – it was very helpful overall.

Step 2 suggested MX or Grow Cast – it didn’t suggest Localcast directly as the player. Like Cris, I find selecting Localcast (via server 3… Other Player..) works great as the player performing real Chromecast to my TV with Chromecast 2 device. ( previously tried other options like Chromecast of my Android tablet screen running Show Box but no sound was streamed even though sound would play locally on tablet if not streamed .)

MX did not work for me via Server 3… Other.. MX comes up but does not obtain the Show Box stream at all even though Localcast is connected to my Chromecast 2 properly. I didn’t need to try Grow Box since Localcast works great.

With Localcast as the external player, I get full HD video with sound. MX doesn’t appear to be adding anything of value to the issue at hand for me. I will try uninstalling MX since I have other players (VLC) if I need as another external player for any reason in the future.

Hi, I tried to watch the movies on both of my tv’s and it tells me that I need wi-fi, I had wi-fi and it didn’t work. All it says when I open the all-cast app is that it is searching…
When I go to input on my tv it doesn’t seem to see my tablet. Would the chrome cast work and if so where would I get one. My tablet doesn’t have hdmi as I have already tried it.

Sorry for asking so many questions, but I would love to get this working so I could watch these movies on my tv.

          Thanks
          Michele

Hi again, Michele. I’m so sorry that you didn’t get it to work. Anyways, if you want to spend some bucks on Chromecast, you can go ahead. It’s a great one. I’ve updated the article and also provided the link to get Chromecast. Some other points also have been added. Read it thoroughly and let me hear your ideas. Good luck!

          Aug 13, 2016, 1:22 am

I tried it on both tv’s and it didn’t work for either tv, the one at home was able to connect to wi-fi on the tablet, but the one at the trailer didn’t have wi-fi. When I brought up the all-cast app, it was just searching abd nothing happened.
What is the chromecast and would it work without access to wi-fi??
Also when you connect the tablet to the TV, di you have to go to input on tv and pick something besides hdmi. My tablet is not hdmi compatible.
Also, maybe you can answer another question for me, could I transfer these movies to a usb stick and then connect it to a tv abd watch them that way??
Sorry to ask so many questions, but I would really like to be able to watch these movies on a TV rather than a 10 inch tablet.
          Thanks Michele

Hi, mate. I got your point. Some people says that updated version of Chromecast can cast without the Internet, and some say that it’s not possible. Personally, I think it will work. Please go through this thread, you’ll find the answer >> https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/Chromecast/XRktmNTk0QY and if you find it lengthy, just search for “cameron.wild” in that page and you’ll see the solution from that guy. You don’t need to install growbox or uninstall MX player! Just select ‘other player’ on showbox as your choice of player and when you click play/watch now it will give you all different options currently installed on your device. I personally use web video caster but you can use which ever you like, the casting app provided in this article is fine too.

I have a Samsung note 3 & note 4 phone, samsung 10.5 tablet, samsung blue ray Web browser, and a newer blue ray player. I’ve been mirroring show box through my three devices to the blue ray players for almost two years with Samsung mirror. I’ve also directly connected thru an HDMI cable. Some times have problems with video to audio sink up – lag problems. Bought chrome cast in January 2016. Used chromecast mirroring with only having showbox and chrome cast apps installed. Worked perfectly except streaming was slower through 4G hotspot/ wifi/mirroring. Also have 5 players that all work with show box. Need a way to add show box as well as other apps, directly to chromecast device, roku, or some thing else out there in order to use my mobile hotspot @ 720 resolution.
